The City of Highland Park is seeking a dedicated and responsible individual to work as a Public Safety Telecommunicator in the City’s 911 Communications Center.
The primary purpose of a Telecommunicator is to answer and process emergency 911 and non-emergency calls for service via computer-aided dispatch system. This requires being aware of the status of each on-duty officer, answering incoming phone calls, gathering information about the request or emergency, providing information, gathering data, and dispatching Police, Fire and other City personnel. Additional duties include monitoring equipment and prisoners; researching computer records for information; updating and maintaining records, computer files and databases; answering routine questions from the public; answering emergency calls for other City departments during non-business hours.
