The Village of Harwood Heights is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer.

 

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 21 years of age; less than 35 years of age at time of application

  • Minimum of 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university, or possess an Associates Degree in any field

  • Possess a valid driver’s license

  • Have at least 20/70 vision correctable to 20/20

  • No felony convictions or arrest and misdemeanor convictions or arrest violations

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Full service municipal policing enforcement of state and local laws

  • Prepare written reports on assigned tasks

  • Attend court and testify when necessary

  • Community policing

  • Assist and render aid to citizens

  • Conduct building checks

  • Investigate suspicious persons, vehicles, noises, etc.

  • Uniform patrol

  • Traffic control

  • Motor vehicle assists

  • Traffic crash investigations

 

Benefits:

  • Starting salary $37,858.00 with the opportunity to earn $46,084.00 after 12 months, and $57,740.00 after 3 years

Applicants must attend mandatory orientation meeting at Ridgewood High School on Monday, August 15th, 2005 at 7:00 p.m.

 

Candidate applications will be reviewed and the candidates deemed most qualified will be invited to continue in the village’s assessment process, to include physical agility test, written examination, oral interview, after a conditional offer of employment the process will include a polygraph examination, medical examination, drug testing and psychological examination.
