Police Officer with the Gurnee Police Department

The Gurnee Police Department is an approved training program for the GI Bill.

Minimum requirements are:

• Between the ages of 21 and less than age 35 and

• A U.S. Citizen and

• Possess a valid drivers license at application and at hire and

• Have 2 years active duty U.S. military experience OR

• Previous sworn police experience OR

• Have completed a minimum of 60 hours of college credit

Additional skills and abilities desired:

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Demonstrated ability to work positively and effectively in a diverse community

• Ability to speak a second language

• Possess a desire to serve the public

The hiring process includes:

• Mandatory orientation session

• Physical agility test

• Written examination

• Oral interview

• Background investigation

• Polygraph and psychological examination

• Post-offer medical examination and drug screen

Starting Salary:

$59,221
