GLENDALE HEIGHTS POLICE DEPARTMENT POLICE RECORDS SUPERVISOR
The Village of Glendale Heights has a position available for a Police Records Supervisor in the Support Operations Division of the Police Department. This supervisory position oversees all shifts of the Police Records Unit. Performs a wide variety of administrative, supervisory and management related duties relative to the direction of activities in the administration of Police Department records and reports, which includes responsibilities of a highly confidential nature. Works under the general supervision of the Police Department Support Operations Division head. Exercises supervision over Police Records Technicians and other clerical staff assigned to the Police Records Unit.
Insures proper documentation and follow up of procedures within the Police Records Unit for all records required within the Police Department. Trains employees in proper departmental, village, county, state or federally mandated record management procedures. Assures efficient completion and quality control for all records within the department and seeks ways to improve procedures. Responsible for Performance Management for all Records Unit employees, ensures effective processes for conducting appraisals of staff within the Records Unit; performs duties of records clerk as needed; prepares required monthly, weekly or other Management and Administrative reports; maintains established computer systems for efficiency in records management; assists in the hiring of personnel; recommends disciplinary action, including dismissal; assists in the gathering of confidential information for internal investigations; evaluates work procedures, schedules, and work flow; studies and recommends improvement of operations; assists in the investigation of citizen requests for service, complaints and requests for information.
Graduation from high school with some college level training in records management, office management, or business management, or sufficient years of progressively related office management experience, and four (4) years of police department experience or any equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience, with additional work experience substituting for the required education on year for year basis. Two (2) years of police department supervisory experience is preferred.
The Police Records Supervisor is a non-union, non-exempt position that works primarily 8:00-4:30 pm, with occasional duties on other shifts as well.
The salary range is $45,593 - $63,835, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Village of Glendale Heights offers a generous health and dental benefits package to full-time employees. The Village of Glendale Heights is an equal opportunity employer.
