Village of Fox Lake has an opening for Community Service Officer.
Duties include a
variety of service-related functions which support the police role. This is a
FT position of 40 hours/week. Schedules may vary with early starts, some
Saturday and late evenings.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Community Service Officer is a non-sworn position. The community Service
Officer is under the direction and supervision of the Chief of Police or Watch
Commander. He or she is responsible for a variety of service-related functions
which support the police role.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
-
Hear and respond to calls for service, taking action
where appropriate.
1.
Lockouts from autos or residence.
2.
Motorist assist
3.
Found and lost property (Reports)
4.
Animal complaints
5.
Parking complaints
6.
House watch patrols
7.
Private property accidents (investigations)
8.
Assist the Fire Dept.
-
Issue local
ordinance violations.
-
Perform
vehicular and pedestrian traffic control.
-
Transport
police vehicles to the Village garage for service.
-
Perform
assigned school crossing guard functions. (If needed)
-
Respond to
animal calls for service and take action to alleviate the animal problems,
when possible, or guide the complaint to the proper agency for assistance.

Perform
courier duties by picking up and delivering circuit court material to and from
neighboring departments and the circuit court of Lake County.
-
Drive a squad
car and patrol village streets and parking lots for the purpose of enforcing
Village Ordinance violations.

Report
situations encountered that are outside the Community Service Officers
training.

Investigate
and prepare animal bites reports.
-
Appear in
court and testify professionally and impartially when necessary.

Assist with
department community service projects and programs.

Lift and carry equipment approximately 25 lbs.
