All applicants must meet the following Police Officer
Minimum Requirements established by the City of Evanston:
Must possess a high school diploma or GED and sixty (60) college credit hours.
Must possess a valid driverís license and a safe driving record.
Must be between 21 and 35 years of age by September 12, 2015.
Must not possess any felony or misdemeanor convictions in accordance with 50
Must possess or be willing to obtain a valid Illinois Firearm Owner
Recruitment Process Requirements:
Must pass the mandatory POWER test on August 30, 2015.
Must pass the written examination scheduled for September 13, 2015.
Must successfully pass a structured oral interview and written assessment.
Must pass background investigation.
Must successfully pass a Psychological Evaluation and Polygraph Examination.
Must be certified by the City of Evanstonís Public Safety/Civil Service
Must be able to successfully complete an Illinois State certified police
academy, have the ability to carry an Evanston Police Department approved
firearm, pass the Illinois State certified firearms examination, and to
successfully complete the Evanston Police Department Field Training Program.
Candidates with one year of active duty in the military and an honorable
discharge will receive 5 preference points on a passing score of the Written
Certification as a full-time sworn law enforcement officer from the Illinois
Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board or reciprocal state training
Current employment as a full-time sworn law enforcement officer.
