Police Officer Minimum Requirements:

  • $25.00 non-refundable application fee

  • U.S. Citizenship

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent AND minimum of 60 completed semester hours of college credit

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Be between 21 and 35 years of age as of Saturday, June 18, 2011, unless exempt by state statute

  • Candidates must attend the MANDATORY POWER test on Saturday, June 11, 2011

  • Candidates are encouraged to attend the optional tutorial sessions for the written exam on Saturday, June 11, 2011

  • Candidates with more than 180 consecutive days of active service duty with the Armed Forces will be awarded two (2) additional preference points to passing written exam scores

 

Application Instructions:

  • Visit www.publicsafetyrecruitment.com to complete the online application for the position of Police Officer. Your online application must be completed and confirmed no later than noon on May 23, 2011.  When completed, you will receive a confirmation number. Save this number for your records.

  • Return required documents to Public Safety Recruitment (Attn.: Evanston PD, 1127 S. Mannheim Rd., Suite 203, Westchester, IL 60154) before noon on May 23, 2011.  Application documents received after the deadline will NOT be accepted. Postmarks or faxed release forms will NOT be accepted. Documents may be delivered by hand during business hours or by mail. Sending documents via traceable courier (i.e. UPS, FedEx, USPS Priority Mail) is highly suggested to ensure timely delivery.

  • Eligible candidates must attend MANDATORY POWER Test on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Evanston Township High School, 1600 Dodge Avenue, Evanston, IL 60201.  The POWER Test will be conducted throughout the day between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.  However, please note that the POWER Test will not be given from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Public Safety Recruitment will send out an email the week of the POWER Test. Only those who submit all documentation properly and on time will be invited to participate.

  • Candidates are encouraged to attend the optional tutorial sessions to help prepare for the entry-level written examination for the City of Evanston Police Department. The tutorial sessions are optional and will be held on June 11, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.; the same date and location as the mandatory POWER test.  The tutorial sessions will be held at the Evanston Township High School, 1600 Dodge Avenue, Evanston, IL 60201.

  • Candidates who pass the POWER must attend the Written Examination on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Evanston Township High School, 1600 Dodge Avenue, Evanston, IL 60201. Arrive no later than 8:15 a.m. with photo identification (valid Driver’s License or State ID) to sign in. Testing will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. and no late admittance will be allowed.
