Effective May 1, 2008, the starting salary for full-time police officers is $57,540 per year.

Minimum Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen or Legal Alien Status

  • No Felony Convictions or Certain Misdemeanors; Exceptional Moral Character

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)

  • Valid Driver's License

  • 20 years to under 35 years of age at time of application unless exempt by statute.  Must be at least 21 years of age at time of appointment.

  • Minimum 45 semester hours of college credit from an accredited college or university

  • Must participate in and successfully complete all stages of the testing process

  • Residency is not required
