COOK COUNTY HEALTH AND HOSPITALS SYSTEM
The Cook County Health and Hospitals System (CCHHS) is the third largest public health system in the country and the primary safety-net provider in Chicago. CCHHS is made up of: two hospitals with a total bed count of over 400, a growing ambulatory and community health network currently consisting of more than 15 clinics, a public health department with offices throughout the County, a correctional healthcare facility, and a large outpatient infectious disease center providing HIV care services. The mission of the CCHHS is to provide high quality clinical care with dignity and respect to its community members regardless of their ability to pay.
The Director of Life Safety will identify and provide leadership and daily oversight for all life safety management activities including strategic direction and leadership to ensure all Cook County Health and Hospitals (CCHHS) buildings and facilities operate within environment of care standards and are in compliance with regulatory agency requirements including the Joint Commission, OSHA, EPA and FDA, as well as compliance with local agencies such as the Chicago Fire Department and the Illinois Department of Public Health. Areas of responsibility include Fire Safety, Emergency Management, Environmental Safety, and Hazardous Material and Regulated Waste Management.
