Police Officer Candidates

The Coal City Board of Fire and Police Commissioners are accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for future openings in the Police Department. The Rules and Regulations of the Board of Commissioners will govern all applicants.

Applications are available and may be

picked up/returned in person at:

Coal City, IL

weekdays between the hours of 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

All applications must be completed in full and returned no later than 5:00pm, Monday April 19th. A photo ID is required for an application.

A Mandatory Orientation Meeting will take place at:

Coal City Middle School

500 South Carbon Hill Road

8:30 am

Saturday, April 24, 2010

This will be immediately followed by a written examination at 9:00 am.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must:

1. Be a U.S. Citizen

2. Have a High School Diploma or its equivalent

3. Be between the ages of 21 and 34

4. Proof of birth date at time of application

5. Have a valid driver’s license

6. Be of good moral character and have no felony convictions

7. Be able to successfully complete a written test, an oral board interview, pass a background investigation, psychological and polygraph tests, as well as a pre-employment medical and physical ability examination

8. Meet all of the other requirements of the Fire and Police Commission

Starting Salary:

$43, 205 with a generous benefit package
