Police Officer

 

 

Applications for a Calumet City Police Officer

will be available to be picked up at:

 

Office of the City Clerk

204 Pulaski Road

Calumet City, IL

 

 

The Clerk’s Office hours are as follows:

 

Monday - Friday

9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

A non-refundable fee of $20 is required for each application.

 

 

Following are the required qualifications to become

a full-time police officer:

  • Age 21 at the time of testing

  • Must be less than 35 years of age, per Illinois State Statue 5/10-2-1-6, with the exception of Illinois Sate Statue Section (D) 5/10-10-2-1-6

  • Must be a citizen of the United State of America

  • Must possess an Associate’s Degree in law enforcement or criminal justice from an accredited Illinois community college, or a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university

 

The applicant must further be able to meet

specified requirements on the following:

  • Mandatory orientation meeting (spouse or companion welcome)

  • Written examination

  • Oral review

 

After successful completion of the above, must pass:

  1. Background check

  2. Polygraph examination

  3. Psychological assessment

  4. Drug & medical examination

 

Upon appointment successfully:

  1. Attend and graduate from police academy

  2. Complete a one year probationary period

 

Applications must be returned with all required information to the Office of the City Clerk no later than March 9, 2011, or so post marked.
