CITY OF BLUE ISLAND

POLICE OFFICER EXAMINATION

The Civil Service Commission in the City of Blue Island, Illinois will conduct an examination for the purpose of providing an eligibility list of persons qualified to be appointed to the position of Police Officer for the Blue Island Police Department.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have passed your 21st birthday but not have attained your 35th birthday by the application return date or otherwise qualify as provided by Section 10-1-7 of the Illinois Municipal Code (65 ILCS 5/10-1-7)

• Must be a citizen of the United States

• Must possess a valid driver's license in good standing

• Must be a graduate of a recognized high school or furnish satisfactory proof of the educational equivalent

• Must not have been convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor involving moral turpitude or any other crime specified by the Civil Service Act

• Must be of good health; mentally and physically able to perform the duties of the position

• Must meet all other eligibility requirements as provided by Illinois Compiled Statutes and the Rules and Regulations of the Blue Island Police Department

TESTING PROCEDURES

The testing procedure includes mandatory orientation, written test, physical agility test, oral interview, psychological examination, polygraph examination, medical examination, drug screen, background and fingerprint check. 

Upon acceptance of your application, you must attend a Mandatory Orientation Session on Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at 7:00 PM at:

Failure to attend will prevent the application from further participation.

Written and Physical Agility Tests on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 9:00 AM at:

Upon successful completion of the written and physical agility tests, dates and times for further testing will be scheduled.

The deadline for return of applications is April 3, 2006 @ 5 PM.

Include with your completed application copies of your driver's license, birth certificate, high school diploma or equivalent, your DO-214 if you served in the military and certificate of completion of Minimum Standards of Basic Law Enforcement Training if applicable.
