The Berwyn Board of Fire and Police Commissioners will accept applications for the position of Police Officer with the Berwyn Police Department.

 

 

Applications are available during the period

September 14, 2009 thru September 25, 2009 at:

9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

Weekdays

 

Tuesdays until 8:00 P.M.

 

Applications must be returned to the Reception Desk at Berwyn City Hall, in person by 5:00 P.M. on September 25, 2009, with a $50.00 non-refundable check or money order made payable to the City of Berwyn.  No exceptions.  No mail-in applications and no e-mail will be accepted.

Applicants should attend with a spouse or close family relative.  Doors open at 6:00 P.M. and doors close at 7:00 P.M. sharp.  Failure to attend disqualifies you from further consideration.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be lawfully eligible for employment in the United States

  • Must be 21 years of age but not have reached their 35th birthday at the time of final posting

  • Must have the ability to speak, read, write, and understand English

  • Must have high school education or equivalent

  • Must have successfully completed (30) hours of law enforcement studies, or (60) hours of general studies at an accredited college or university, or have a minimum of 2 years employment in municipal law enforcement as a sworn police officer

  • Must supply copy of birth certificate and proof of education and/or work requisite, as well as social security card and current driver's license; This is required at time of application and will not be returned.

  • Must pass medical physical as a condition of employment

  • Must be a resident of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, or Will county, Illinois.
