Police Officer Basic Requirements:

• Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and not have reached their 40th birthday by the application filing deadline.

• Applicants must have completed at minimum 60 hours of college credit at an accredited college or university.

• Applicants must be able to demonstrate physical agility and muscular coordination and be able to perform the duties of the job of police officer.

• Applicants must have a minimum vision acuity of 20/40 each eye uncorrected and corrected to 20/20. Have normal color vision, depth perception and have no night deficiency.

• Applicants must be of good moral character and not have been convicted of a serious criminal offense.

• Applicants must speak, read and write the English language fluently.

• Applicants must have a good driving record and a valid drivers license.

Applications will be accepted 12/1/2011 through 12/31/2011. ONLY 150 APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. No applications will be accepted or considered after the 150th completed application is submitted. Applications must be submitted in person at the Bedford Park Police Department. A $25 application fee will be required upon submission.
