BASIC
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
At least
18 years of age, a citizen of the United States and posses a High School Diploma
or G.E.D.
-
Knowledge
of correct grammar, basic knowledge of computers and the ability to type.
-
Have the
ability to handle confidential material in a discreet manner.
-
Have the
ability to respond accurately and promptly to multiple tasks simultaneously and
sometimes under stressful conditions.
-
Have the
ability to accurately prepare written reports and records of incidents, and
accurately input data into a computer.
-
Successfully complete a thorough background investigation, and after receiving a
conditional offer of employment, be able to successfully pass a polygraph,
psychological and medical examinations.
-
Experience
preferred but not required.
DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Answering
emergency and non-emergency requests for police service. Determine the nature
of a call and assign appropriate personnel (i.e. police, fire EMS, etc.)
-
Dispatch
radio calls to police units for emergency and non-emergency requests.
-
Knowledge
and maintenance of local and state records (i.e. LEADS records, police reports,
etc.)
-
Become
LEADS (Law Enforcement Agencies Data System) certified and maintain
certification
-
Monitor
police and fire radios
-
Successfully complete a training program and 12-month orientation/probationary
period.
-
Work schedule
would consist of rotating shifts every three months to include working weekdays,
weekends, holidays and various other shift combinations to fill vacancies as
they occur.
BENEFITS:

STARTING
SALARY of $45,309.00, with step increases to $59,537.00 after 5-years
of service, and annual cost of living increases.

medical, dental and life insurance. (No employee premiums)

Full
uniforms are issued.

Two
retirement plans (Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund and 457 Deferred
Compensation Plan).

Paid sick,
holiday
and vacation days and longevity pay.

Employment - Police Assistant" and marked with the applicant's first and last
name.
