Position of Police Officer

CERTIFIED/LATERAL ENTRY CANDIDATES

 

 

Arlington Heights Offers:

  • Starting salary range based upon experience $62,889 - $69,298. Top pay of $84,158 reached in three to four years;

  • Longevity pay reached after five years of service;

  • Superior fringe benefits and pension plan;

  • Permanent shifts on a 6 days on / 3 days off schedule;

  • No residency requirement;

  • Specialty Positions: Criminal/Juvenile Investigators, Crime Prevention Officer, School Resource Officers, Canine Handlers (3), Problem Oriented Policing Unit, Traffic Unit, Forensic/Arson Investigators, Honor Guard, Bicycle Officers, Field Training Officers, Less Lethal Officers, Patrol Rifle Officers, Motorcycle Officers, Traffic Crash Investigators, Gang/Tactical Unit, Task Force Assignments to DEA and FBI, MCAT investigators and NIPAS/Mobile Field Force.

 

To Qualify You Must:

  • Have at least 60 semester hours from an accredited institution;

  • Have vision correctable to 20/20;

  • Be a U.S. citizen and have a valid Illinois driver’s license;

  • Pass oral interview, background investigation, polygraph, psychological exam, and medical exam, including a drug screening.

  • Previous status as a certified Police Officer in the State of Illinois for one year after completion of a probationary period. Currently in good standing in the police department in which the person serves.

  • Possess substantially equivalent skills and abilities as a Village of Arlington Heights Police Officer who has completed the probationary period, as determined by the Village, and taken and passed such examinations as the Commission deems necessary to determine fitness for duty as a police officer.
