911 Public Safety Telecommunicator

DESCRIPTION:

The Village of Antioch is seeking part-time 911 Public Safety Telecommunicators to add to its call-back pool. The Dispatch Center is the primary answering point and dispatch center for the Villages of Antioch, Lake Villa and Lindenhurst Police Departments and Antioch and Lake Villa Townships Fire and Rescue Departments wire line and wireless emergency and non-emergency calls for law enforcement, fire, EMS and Public Works.

This is an at-will position and requires availability to work rotating shifts, weekends and holidays. An active list will be established and used continuously to staff existing vacancies.

Performs work of moderate difficulty in receiving telephone, radio and walk up requests for emergency and non-emergency services; prioritizing requests; transferring data into proper message format and dispatching the proper response for police, fire, rescue and public works; providing emergency medical instructions when necessary for the dispatching of police, fire and rescue calls; monitoring alarms; equipment maintenance, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requirements include:

• High School diploma or equivalent

• 21 years of age

• Minimum of one (1) year of related telecommunicator experience at the time of application

• EMD, LEADS certifications preferred

• Qualified candidates will have a strong work ethic and sense of duty and responsibility, and be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

• Attention to detail and ability to work successfully with other team members, often in stressful situations, is a must

• Successful candidate must be willing to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays

SALARY:

$17.36 per hour, no benefits
