Board of Fire and Police Commissioners
Village of Alsip

 

The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners of the Village of Alsip, Illinois will conduct an examination for the purpose of establishing an eligibility list for the position of Police Officer.

 

 

Beginning January 22, 2011, applications will be available

to the FIRST 200 qualified applicants at:

 

Village Clerk’s Office

4500 West 123rd Street

Alsip, Illinois

 

8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.

Monday

 

8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

Tuesday thru Friday

 

9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.

Saturdays
 


Applicants must:

  • Be a United States Citizen

  • Be at least 21 years of age (at time of application filing deadline) and must not have reached their 35th birthday by the posting of the final eligibility list

  • Possess a valid driver’s license

  • Have completed at least 30 credit hours from an accredited college or Certificate of Completion of Full-Time Law Enforcement Training (Police Academy Certificate) and Certification through the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (State of Illinois Certificate) will be acceptable in lieu of the college credits (Trade schools not eligible)

  • Be able to speak, read and write the English language fluently

  • Meet such other requirements as set forth by the Illinois Compiled Statutes and Fire and Police Commission rules and regulations
     

Testing process will consist of the following: Written and P.O.W.E.R. Test (both to be administered on the same day), Oral Assessment, Psychological Evaluation, Polygraph Test, Background Investigation and pass a Medical Examination and Drug Screening by a physician designated by the Village of Alsip.
 

Individuals requiring reasonable accommodations should notify the Commission in writing, as soon as possible, with any request regarding the testing process.

Upon written request, additional credit will be given to Veterans for military service and for those with educational preference points in accordance with statutory provisions then in force.
 

Applications must be completed and returned, with copies of birth certificate, educational transcripts, copy of driver’s license and if applicable, military discharge DD 214 or police academy and State of Illinois certificates, to the Village Clerk’s office by: Monday, January 31, 2011 - 8:00 PM.
 

Each applicant will be required to pay a non-refundable $30.00 administration fee at the time of requesting the application packet.

Only applicants, who have completed the application and submitted the required documents, by the above date, will qualify to be invited to the mandatory orientation meeting to be conducted by the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners on February 4, 2011.
 

Hired Officers are required to reside in the counties of Cook, Will, DuPage or Kendall, upon completion of their initial probationary period.
