The Village of Algonquin, IL (Pop. 30,046) is accepting applications for full-time Police Officer candidates.




  • Pay range is $54,367 - $95,254 through April 30, 2017 (salary will change upon completion of negotiations)

  • Excellent benefits and retirement package



  • Possess a valid driverís license

  • Be a United States citizen and/or alien admitted for permanent residence or lawfully admitted for temporary residence and who produces evidence of intention to become a citizen of the United States

  • Meet the age requirements set forth in the Illinois State Statute 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6, (upon appointment of employment be 21 years of age or older and have not reached their 35th birthday, unless they meet the exemptions under the statute)

  • Possess an Associateís degree or have completed at least 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college pursuing a Bachelorís degree (must provide proof when appointed; college degree requirements are waived for current military members or veterans who provide proof of their DD-214)

  • Possess no record of felony conviction or crime of moral turpitude

Applicants need to attend only one session. Applicants must present a U.S. federal or state-issued photo ID card or driverís license to enter the testing site. College, university, library, and other non-governmental IDs are not acceptable. The doors will be closed and locked promptly at the testing time and any applicant arriving after the specified time will not be allowed to enter.


The entire testing process may include a physical fitness test, written test, oral interview, polygraph, psychological test, medical exam, and any other exams deemed necessary by the Police Department.

A $20.00 non-refundable application processing fee is due when your application is submitted (the processing fee will be waived for current military members or veterans who provide proof of their DD-214).  Checks may be made payable to Village of Algonquin.  Cash will also be accepted.
