VILLAGE OF ADDISON

911 DISPATCHER

POLICE DEPARTMENT

 

 

The Human Resources Division is accepting applications for two (2) full-time positions of 911 Dispatcher in the Village of Addison Consolidated Dispatch Center. Dispatchers are assigned to answer all 911, 7-digit emergency and non-emergency calls for the Villages of Addison and Bensenville. Future expansion in the number of jurisdictions this dispatch center will handle is possible. Duties of the Dispatcher include, but are not limited to: input the incoming information into a computer-aided system, monitor radio frequencies, set priorities among incoming events and dispatch the police to necessary locations using both radios and computers. The applicant must have the ability to successfully multi-task several activities at once.

 

 

Applicants should:

  • Posses a high school diploma or GED Certificate

  • Have a valid Illinois Drivers License Class “D” or of the classification appropriate to the equipment to be operated, free from incidence that may result in license revocation or suspension

  • Have at least two (2) years of experience in police work or other related fields as a dispatcher or community service officer preferred, but not required

 

The starting hourly rate for all positions is $24.04. Full-time Dispatchers will receive a very competitive benefit package and work 40 hours per week, plus any required overtime.

The candidate selection process may consist of

all or some of the following:

  • A review of the candidate’s past work experience and skills

  • Testing

  • Psychological

  • Background check

  • A personal interview

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical may be required
