Telecommunicator

The West Suburban Consolidated Dispatch Center (WSCDC), a state of the art facility that began operations in May 2002 is currently accepting applications for the position of Telecommunicator.  WSCDC answers calls and dispatches Police, Fire and Ambulance for the Villages of Oak Park, River Forest and Elmwood Park. 

Applicants must:

• Be able to type a minimum of 35 wpm

• Successfully pass a written examination, criminal background check, drug, alcohol and hearing test, personality screening

• Be able to obtain full access LEADS Certification and Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification 

Telecommunicators are required to work all shifts; days, afternoons and midnights.  Trainees must be able to rotate to each shift on a 28 day cycle with rotating days off.  Upon successful completion of training, junior operators (least senior) must be prepared to work a permanent midnight shift but is not guaranteed. 

The current salary range is starting at:

$46,821
