Full–Time Telecommunicator

The West Suburban Consolidated Dispatch Center (WSCDC) is currently accepting applications to compile an eligibility list for the position of full-time Telecommunicator.  WSCDC answers calls & dispatches Police, Fire & Ambulance for the Villages of Oak Park, River Forest, & Elmwood Park.  

Applicants must:

• Be able to type a minimum of 35 wpm

• Successfully pass a written examination, criminal background check, drug, alcohol, hearing tests, personality screening

• Be able to obtain full access LEADS and Emergency Medical Dispatch certification

• Reside within the State of Illinois counties of Cook, DuPage, McHenry, Lake, Kane, LaSalle and Will 

Full-time Telecommunicators are required to work all shifts during training; days, afternoons and midnights with rotating days off. Upon successful completion of training, assignment will be made to one of three shifts, based on operational needs.  The shifts are days; 06:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., afternoons; 2:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m., and midnights 10:30 p.m. – 06:30 a.m.  

Telecommunicator salary range is $43,469 – $54,202 after completion of 5 years.
