Police Officer Vacancies/Certified & Non Certified Officers
The North Port Police Department is currently accepting applications for both certified and non-certified Police Officers. Candidates selected for these positions must meet all minimum requirements for the position of a Police Officer, as per Florida Statute 943.13.
Non-certified candidates selected for these vacancies will receive a “trainee wage” while attending the Sarasota Criminal Justice Academy. Upon successful completion of the academy and passing the State Police Officer Certification Examination, the candidates will be sworn as City of North Port Police Officers.
Non-certified candidates will be required to sign an employment agreement with the City for a period of three years.
Testing will consist of the following: a written exam, oral boards, physical agility test, complete background investigation, a psychological screening, and a medical/drug screen.
All candidates will also be required to successfully complete the Police Academy Basic Abilities Test, “FBAT”.
Salary:
Certified: $16.0216-$24.3183 per hour
Non-Certified: $26,500 annually
