JOB TITLE: LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER/Police Department
 

JOB STATUS: Full Time, Non-Exempt
 

SALARY RANGE:
 

JOB FUNCTIONS: General duty police work in the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and ordinances, to include, but not limited to: 

• Problem solving in the community

• Implementation of Community Oriented Policing Strategies

• Routine patrol function

• Preliminary investigations

• Enforcing state and local laws

• Responding to calls from citizens

• Traffic regulation duties

• Writing detailed reports

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Current certification as a police officer and must meet minimum experience/training requirements as set forth by the State of Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.

Applicant must possess:

• A BACHELORS DEGREE FROM AN ACCREDITED COLLEGE, OR

• (4) YEARS LAW ENFORCEMENT EXPERIENCE AND AT LEAST 60 CREDITS
  FROM AN ACCREDITED COLLEGE, OR

• (4) YEARS MILITARY EXPERIENCE AND AT LEAST 60 CREDITS FROM AN
  ACCREDITED COLLEGE. 
   

Applicant must meet the requirements outlined for Law Enforcement Officers pursuant to Florida State Statutes and meet minimum standards as set forth by the Broward County Criminal Justice Institute and the City of Coral Springs. Must be at least 21 years of age and a United States Citizen.
 

Submit to and successfully complete the following:

1. Screening for minimum qualifications on a continuous basis                  

2. Acceptable score on CJBAT (Criminal Justice Basic Abilities Test) until all vacancies are filled.                       

3. Acceptable score on the T.A.B.E. (If applying without a Bachelor's Degree)

4. Successfully pass the Basic Motor Skills Test (Agility Test) & Swim Test

5. Formal interview

6. Computerized Voice Stress Analysis

7. Interview with the Chief of Police

8. Psychological evaluation

9. Mandatory drug screening

10. Background investigation

11. Post-Offer Medical examination

12. Completion of 12-month probationary period

Possession of current valid Florida Driver's license and acceptable
driving record required.

HOURS/DAYS OF WORK: 40-hour workweek with flexible days and hours in
accordance with the department's operational requirements.
