Lieutenant

 

Graduation from high school or equivalent and four years experience as a Florida Minimum Standards Firefighter, of which two years must have been either at the Driver/Operator level or Rescue Lieutenant with Pump Operator Certification. Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination is required prior to employment. State of Florida Fire Officer I (NFPA-1021) certification or an Associate's degree in Fire Science.

  1. Current State of Florida Firefighter Certificate of Compliance.

  2. Current State of Florida Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certificate.

  3. Completion of a minimum certified sixteen hour emergency driving course.

  4. Current State of Florida Certificate of Competency for Pump Operator.

  5. State of Florida Fire Officer I (NFPA-1021) certification or an Associates degree in Fire Science.

  6. A valid State of Florida driver's license; free from moving violation citations for a period of not less than six months preceding employment; and within the past three years applicant must have had no convictions for reckless driving, or driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances, and must not have had a driver's license suspended pursuant to Florida law.

  7. A sworn affidavit attesting to the non-use of tobacco products.

  8. Certification by the Alachua County Medical Director is required and must be maintained as a condition of employment. (NOTE: This is at time of employment)

  9. Successful applicants must meet all requirements for Drivers as listed in Florida Statutes 401.281.

 

Lieutenant/Paramedic

 

Graduation from high school or equivalent and four years experience as a Florida Minimum Standards Firefighter, of which two years must have been at the Driver/Operator level with one year attending privileges as a Paramedic or Rescue Lieutenant with Pump Operator Certification. Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination is required prior to employment. State of Florida Fire Officer I (NFPA-1021) certification or an Associate's degree in Fire Science.

  6. Current State of Florida Certificate of Competency for Pump Operator.

  7. State of Florida Fire Officer I (NFPA-1021) certification or an Associate degree in Fire Science.

  8.
