Located in northwest Orange County, the City of Los Alamitos is seeking a Chief of Police.  The City is home to approximately 12,000 residents within its 4.3 square miles.  The Police Department operates on an annual budget of $4.8 million with the dedicated support of 25 sworn and 4 civilian staff.
 

The ideal candidate will be an approachable, highly engaged manager with exceptional interpersonal skills who enjoys the benefits of maintaining a close relationship between the Department and the community.  He/she will be a community policing practitioner who places equal importance on crime and quality of life issues.   Service at the rank of Lieutenant or above, a minimum of five years of management experience in local law enforcement, California experience and a Bachelor’s degree are required.

Salary range $113,622 - $159,071 is supplemented by generous benefits package including fully paid 3% @ 50 PERS.
