Overview of the position:

 

Under general direction of the Superintendent, serves as the District's Chief of Police and Safety as authorized by Education Code 38000; provides overall leadership and assumes management responsibility of the District's safety program; plans, organizes, controls and directs staff to provide District-wide law enforcement, security, and protective services; and assures compliance with Peace Officer Standards Training (P.O.S.T.) standards and regulations.

 

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

Education:

 

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college with major course work in Police Science, Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Business Management or Administration or closely related field.

 

Experience:

 

Five years of recent law enforcement experience, including two years administrative experience at or above the rank of Lieutenant.

 

Special:

  • Possession of P.O.S.T. Advanced Certificate and completion of P.O.S.T. Management Certificate within one year of hire.

  • Employee must be physically and mentally able to perform the essential duties of the position without hazard to themselves or others.

  • Must be physically and psychologically evaluated as required by Section 1031, subsection (f) of the California Government Code, and not be disqualified by any factors set forth in sections 1029 and 1031.5.

  • Possession of a valid California Class C Driver License.

  • Evidence of adequate insurance for a motor vehicle, which meets or exceeds the California legal liability insurance requirement and the ability to maintain insurability.
