EGPD SEEKS EXCEPTIONAL LATERAL DISPATCHERS

Dispatchers evaluate the information received, evaluate the proper course of action and dispatch the appropriate police response. Due to the nature of emergency work, Dispatchers will be required to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. To start up the Dispatch Communications Center, the City’s priority is to fill the dispatch positions with lateral dispatchers. However, as part of our initial recruitment effort, the City is accepting all applications with the goal of developing an eligibility list to be used to fill future openings.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Knows general and emergency police dispatching processes, procedures, and practices

• Excellent multi-tasker

• Positive attitude in stressful circumstances

• Possess POST certificate and minimum of 1 year experience in similar environment

• Operates and maintains communications equipment including radio consoles, computer terminals, telephone equipment for 911, CAD, and TDD systems

• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills

• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with subordinates, peers, supervisors, and the general public

• Exercises excellent judgment, self-confidence, and a desire to serve the community

• Maintains composure and takes responsible action during stressful situations

• Communicates clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

• Thinks creatively

• Serves as a team builder and team player

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Police Dispatcher Salary Range: $46,703 - $56,768 annually.
