LLNL Security has openings for our next Security Police Officer (SPO)Academy.  The SPO is responsible to protect the Department of Energy's security interests and property from theft, vandalism, illegal entry, and other acts that may adversely impact national security or the health and safety of the Laboratory's employees including response to security and fire alarms and emergency incidents.  Assignments may be at either Livermore or Site 300 during day, swing, or owl shifts and may require overtime and holiday work.

 

Do you meet the flowing criteria?: (see our posting on-line for more details):

 

  • Ability to successfully complete a physical fitness standard consisting of a one-mile run in 8 minutes and 30 seconds and a prone-to-running 40 yard dash in 8.0 seconds; a comprehensive medical examination, multi-stage cardiovascular assessment; psychological evaluation; and drug test. Ability to work under extreme outdoor weather conditions.  Capability to engage in physical activity using both hands, arms, legs feet and wearing protective equipment.  Possess good peripheral, depth, and binocular vision as well as color discrimination.  Hearing ability to discriminate speak and high-pitched sound.

  • Ability to attain and maintain firearms proficiency as required by DOE.

(Position will be posted through November 14, 2005.) A fitness test will be conducted at the event.  Individuals that pass the test will be interviewed on Saturday, December 3, 2005 and December 10, 2005.  Academy starts in March 2006.
