POLICE LIEUTENANT
$73,778 - $89,762 annually
+ benefits
Requirements:
-
Minimum eight (8) years total law enforcement
(fully certified/sworn law enforcement status), most recent to include four (4)
as fully certified/sworn Sergeant or higher rank with State certified law
enforcement agency
-
Must possess AzPOST certification as Law
Enforcement Officer or obtain within 120 days of hire
-
Knowledge of principles and practices of
modern police including traffic control, patrol, crime investigation and
prevention, police tactics, supervisory techniques, criminal record retention
and destruction; budget prep and monitoring
-
Skill in interpreting laws, rules, reg’s and
policies; utilizing police equipment, vehicles, communication, surveillance and
safety equipment, PC’s and weaponry; negotiations and using public relations
techniques
-
Skill
in interacting with Chief of Police/City Manager/City Council; department heads,
public safety agencies from other communities, jurisdictions, State and Federal
entities, and citizens
-
Must possess valid
motor vehicle operator’s license with good driving record
-
Must reside within 30
driving minutes of
Prescott
-
Preferred candidates
must successfully complete a physical examination, drug screening, psychological
evaluation, polygraph interview, background investigation and oral interview
Duties include:
-
Planning, delivery, and evaluation of
departmental services and activities
-
Preparing statistical reports and making
change recommendations
-
Plans, assigns work and evaluates personnel
performance
-
Promotes positive community relations, attends
public meetings, service and civic club functions
-
Speaks/educates the community on public
safety, law enforcement and community service issues
-
FLSA exempt (not
eligible for over time)

Personal History, and last three years performance evaluations must be received
by 5:00 P.M. April 21st, 2006.
The background questionnaire, AZ POST
statement of personal history, past performance evaluations, the signed release
form along with a copy of departmental personnel file (including copies of all
discipline and any/all internal investigations of misconduct against yourself),
must be enclosed in a sealed envelope separate from the application and resume.
