Compensation

 

$15.05 - $20.77/hour

(includes 5% add pay)

  • Initial compensation, including 5% add pay, $15.05/hour

  • Plus:

    • Step increase after 6 months ($15.62/hour includes 5% add pay)

    • Step increase on 1 year anniversary ($16.19/hour includes 5% add pay)

  • Annual merit increases thereafter

The City of Flagstaff, an Equal Opportunity Employer, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Police Emergency Communications Specialist, without regard to race, color, creed, gender or ethnic origin, to establish an eligibility list for current and future openings in the Police Department.

 

Responsible for taking calls from the public and processing or dispatching the calls to appropriate personnel.  Duties also include routine clerical work associated with dispatching and other police work.

 

 

Communications Center Information:

  • Combined county-wide dispatch servicing:

    • Flagstaff Police Department

    • Coconino County Sheriff's Office

    • Flagstaff Fire Department

    • Guardian Medical Transport

    • Highlands Fire Department

    • Summit Fire Department

    • Forest Lakes Fire/EMS Department

    • Blue Ridge Fire Department

  • State-of-the-art equipment such as Intergraph CAD System, computerized Motorola Radio System, and computerized Plant Phone System

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduation from a standard high school or G.E.D.

  • Minimum typing of 35 wpm.

  • Any combination of experience and training predicting the success to fulfill the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

  • College course work or degree in a related field.

  • Familiarity with Flagstaff geography.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and/or NT workstation environments.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • All emergency service employees shall maintain their principal residence within a prescribed area.

  • Ability and willingness to work all swing shifts, including days, evenings, graveyards, weekends, and holidays.

  • Willingness to wear a uniform.

  • Must possess or obtain upon employment a valid Arizona driver's license.
