Minimum qualifications for
employment as a firefighter are listed below:
- Applicant must be at least 18 years of age
or older
- Applicant must be a high school graduate
or GED
- Must be a citizen of the United States or
have applied for citizenship
- High moral standards is required for all
firefighter applicants (a conviction for any felony or serious misdemeanor
is grounds for disqualification)
- 20/20 corrected vision is required
- Applicant must possess a valid Virginia
operator's license at the time of employment
- Must be drug free
- Applicants must have an acceptable DMV and
criminal background check
