The Hapeville Police Department is now accepting applications for the position of Assistant Chief of Police.

NATURE OF WORK:

This position involves highly responsible law enforcement work assisting with the daily operations of the Police Department, under the direction of the Chief of Police. Work involves all aspects of the Police Department including administrative, operational and supervisory responsibilities for Uniform Division, Special Operations and Special Services.

The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with a positive can-do attitude who is diplomatic and politically astute. The candidate should promote citizen and community involvement, encourage input from others and have a congenial management style. General supervision is provided by the Chief of Police.

REQUIREMENTS:

Georgia P.O.S.T. Certification. P.O.S.T. Certified Instructor. Valid Georgia Drivers License. Clean MVR. Excellent oral & written communication skills. Ability to interpret laws and codes as written. State Certification Experience. Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Business or Public Administration preferred. Related work experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements. Experience in community policing, public speaking and budgetary formulation is a plus.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:

State Certification Officer, Internal Affairs Investigation, Media/Public Information Officer, Training Coordinator, Day-to-Day Operations, Implementing departmental policies and procedures. Candidate shall be required to be available during non-working hours. Responsibilities require independent judgment and initiative in directing work of the department. Any additional duties requested by the Chief of Police.
