The
Village of Western Springs is accepting applications for participation in a
patrol officer recruitment cycle.
In
order to qualify in the application process, candidates must:
1.
Be Municipal Registry certified (PSAT)*, proof of certification must accompany
the completed application for Western Springs. This is a process that candidates
pay for themselves and once certified allows them access to other departments in
the Municipal Registry without further charge or assessment during a two (2)
year period.
2.
Be between 21 and 34 years of age** at the time of submitting an application.
3.
Be a citizen of the United States
4.
Have a high school diploma or GED certificate.
5.
Possess a valid drivers license.
Examination
Process:
Candidates
deemed as qualified according to the standards of the Western Springs Board of
Fire and Police Commissioners will be invited to continue in the eligibility
process. This process will include an intense background investigation and oral
interview. Employment medical examinations including drug screening, polygraph
testing, and psychological examinations will also be utilized after job offers
are given.

Applications
must be picked up at the Western Springs Department of Law Enforcement Services,
740 Hillgrove Avenue, Western Springs, IL 60558. Fully completed applications
with proof of Municipal Registry PSAT certification must be returned by January
25, 2002. Applicants meeting the basic requirements will be advised in writing
following the deadline of the next stage in the examination process.

Applicants with prior experience as a Police Officer or Auxiliary Police Officer
with a municipal police department may be exempt from the statutory age
requirements.
