The City of Rolling Meadows has a residential population of 24,604 and a business population exceeding 44,000. The Police Department has 56 full-time sworn police officers and 20 civilian support employees. The Department is internationally accredited and is the 2002 International Community Policy Award recipient for its ongoing community policing efforts by the International Association of Chief's of Police. The Department is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill immediate openings for the position of police officer.

Minimum Requirements: Applicants must be at least 20 years of age at the time of the test and between 21 and 35 years of age at the time of appointment. Applicant's vision must be correctable to 20/20 in both eyes with no color blindness, and pass a thorough medical exam including a drug screening. Applicants must have completed a minimum of 48 college credit hours from an accredited university at the time of the test and successfully complete 60 college credit hours at the completion of the 18-month probationary period. Also, applicants must be of good character and able to pass a rigorous background investigation including a polygraph and psychological examination.

How To Apply: Application packets may be picked up at the Police Department, 3600 Kirchoff Road, Rolling Meadows, Illinois beginning January 24, 8 AM and must be returned, completed by February 21, 2003, 3 PM. No exceptions will be allowed. Applications will be date stamped upon receipt in order to establish a test eligibility roster. The first 50 completed and qualified applications will be invited to participate in the test process held on February 22, 2003. All other completed applications will be maintained by the Rolling Meadows Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for later testing processes in 2003 to establish an eligibility list for hiring.
