Police Officer

$21.90 per hour plus benefits

(2002 wage rate – 2003 contract in negotiations)

CITY OF NORTHFIELD, MINNESOTA (population 17,147) is currently seeking one full time police officer. The full time position is responsible for patrolling the city and responding to calls to ensure that applicable laws, ordinances, and regulations are followed. Incumbents perform tasks associated with law enforcement and public safety, including preventing crime, apprehending criminals and protecting property and life. Process includes: minimum requirements, physical agility and skills testing, police officer written test, interviews, background/reference checks, psychological testing, medical exam and drug and alcohol testing.

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:  Minnesota Peace Officers license or a Peace Officers license from another state with the ability to acquire reciprocity prior to hire and Minnesota license within two months of hire. Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science, or a related field, with previous law enforcement experience preferred. Any combination of education or experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered. Must have knowledge of modern investigative methods, criminal law, search and seizure and evidence preservation. Valid Minnesota Driver’s License within two weeks of hire.
