Requirements for Police Applicants
Minimum Requirements - To apply for entry level Police Officer, all applicants must meet minimum qualifications. Prospective applicants must be at least 21 years of age, and must not have reached 36 years of age, by the time of compiled eligibility list.
Age Requirement - The minimum entry level age required for certification as a peace officer in the State of Illinois is 21 years of age.
Applicant MUST be a U.S. Citizen or legal alien
Applicant MUST have the following:
• High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate
• Valid Drivers License
Applicant MUST live within a 10 air mile radius within 18 months
Applicant MUST NOT have any of the disqualifying items listed below on their record:
• Any felony charges or convictions
• Any discharge from the Armed Forces other than honorable*
• Any charges or conviction of a crime involving Family Violence
*Uncharacterized and Entry Level discharges will be assessed on an individual basis and may be accepted.
All applications must be completed and returned by June 10, 2003.

Applicants are required to attend at least one orientation date.
