The Hillside Board of Fire and Police Commissioners is accepting applications for the position of Paramedic/Firefighter.  Applications may be obtained from the office of the Hillside Village Clerk, 30 N. Wolf Road, Hillside, Illinois, starting January 13, 2003, between the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays, and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturdays.  The Village of Hillside is closed January 20, 2003 in observance of Martin Luther King.  All completed applications without exception, must be returned to the Village Clerk’s office no later than 7 p.m. on January 29, 2003.  Salaries are competitive and the fringe benefits are excellent.

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

 

1.                  Must be 21 years of age.  Age hiring limitations imposed by

                 State statute are applicable.

2.                  Must be a U.S. citizen or an alien admitted, permanently or

                temporarily, who produces evidence of intention to become

                a citizen of the United States.

3.                  Must have a high school degree or G.E.D. equivalent.

4.                  Males must be registered with the local selective

               service draft board.

5.                  Must have a current Paramedic certification in the

               State of Illinois at time of hire.

6.                  Applicants who are currently certified as paramedics

               will be provided preference in hiring.

7.                  Must have a valid drivers license at time of hiring.

 

Additional requirements and supporting documentation requested of applicants will be provided as part of the Village’s application packet.  Candidates will undergo rigorous testing to include a written examination, oral interview, background check, polygraph testing and in-depth psychological and medical evaluations.

 

The application and examination process are subject to the rules and regulations of the Hillside Fire and Police Commissioners.  There will be a MANDATORY ORIENTATION session on Monday, February 3, 2003 at 7 p.m. at the Hillside Community Center, 1 N. Lind Avenue, Hillside, Illinois 60162.

 

The written testing is scheduled for Saturday, February 15, 2003 at 9:30 a.m. at the Hillside Community Center, 1 N. Lind Avenue, Hillside, Illinois 60162
